HYPERHIDROSIS (SWEATING)

Do you know about Hyperhidrosis :

Today we discuss about Hyperhidrosis (Sweating):

Hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased sweating/perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. It is associated with a significant quality of life burden from a psychological, emotional, and social perspective. As such, it has been referred to as the ‘silent handicap’.Hyperhidrosis can either be generalized or localized to specific parts of the body. Hands, feet, armpits, and the groin area are among the most active regions of perspiration due to the relatively high concentration of sweat glands. When excessive sweating is localized (e.g. palms, soles, face, underarms, scalp) it is referred to as primary or focal hyperhidrosis. Generalized or secondary hyperhidrosis usually involves the body as a whole and is the result of an underlying condition. Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of palms and soles is very common and it usually hampers work. So treatment is very necessary.

Causes Of Hyperhidrosis :

The cause of primary hyperhidrosis is unknown, although some doctors claim it is caused by sympathetic nerve over-activity. Nervousness or excitement can exacerbate the situation for many sufferers. Other factors can play a role; certain foods and drinks, nicotine, caffeine, and smells can trigger a response.

Symptoms Of Hyperhidrosis :

• Excessive sweating is the only symptom.
• Sometimes there may be chances of getting secondary fungal infection.

CYST & LYPOMA :

A lipoma is a growth of fat cells in a thin, fibrous capsule usually found just below the skin. Lipomas are found most often on the torso, neck, upper thighs, upper arms, and armpits, but they can occur almost anywhere in the body. One or more lipomas may be present at the same time. Lipomas are the most common noncancerous soft tissue growth.

There are a number skin conditions that cause lumps and bumps to appear on the surface or just below the skin. There are many conditions which cause lumps and bumps as follows.
• Skin cysts
• Cherry angioma
• Dermatofibromas
• Epidermoid cysts
• Folliculitis

Causes of cyst & Lypoma :
• Cysts can develop as a result of infection, clogging of sebaceous glands oil glands), or around foreign bodies, such as earrings.
• The cause of lipomas is not completely understood, but the tendency to develop them is inherited. A minor injury may trigger the growth. Being overweight does not cause lipomas.

Symptoms of cyst & Lypoma :

• Slow-growing.
• Painless.
• Smooth to the touch when they are rolled under the skin.
• Painful if secondarily infected.
• Are small [0.4 in. (1 cm) to 1.2 in. (3 cm)] and felt just under the skin.
• Are movable and have a soft, rubbery consistency.
• May remain the same size over years or grow very slowly.
• Often the most bothersome symptom is the location or increased size that makes the lipoma noticeable by others.

CORN, CALLUSES & PLANTER WARTS

Fist we discuss about Corn, calluses & plantar warts :

Corn, calluses & plantar warts usually look same are thick, hardened layers of skin that develop when your skin tries to protect itself against continuous friction & pressure. Differentiation of corn, callus & wart is important for their proper treatment. They most often develop on feet & toes or hands & fingers. If you have diabetes or other conditions that causes poor circulation to your feet you are at greater risk of complications from corns & calluses. Seek your doctor’s advice for proper care & treatment. Plantar warts look same like corn but wart is due to virus. So proper diagnosis is required for treatment. Sometimes warts are excised by surgery but they return after surgery because surgery only removes wart & cannot kill virus so radio/electro surgery or fractional co2 laser are best choice of treatments for plantar warts and also corn & calluses.

Causes Of Corn, calluses & plantar warts :

Continuous pressure & friction from repetitive action, ill fitting shoes, skipping socks, using hand tools etc are the main causes of corn & calluses. Wart is usually due to viral infection. Chances of spreading wart are more as compared to corn & calluses.

Symptoms Of Corn, calluses & plantar warts :

• A hardened raised bump appears most commonly on toes, fingers, heel, plantar area etc.
• Thick rough skin.
